Setlist for the Loose Logic Set 10/28-29/04

Happy Halloween everyone!

A little late on getting this setlist out to you, but man after doing a show from 11 PM to 5 am, I've had to get some sleep and recover a little. He's Back...bin Laden tape

So today, we find out that Osama bin Laden is still alive, kicking, and threatening the US with more terror attacks. He said that if the US would treat muslims with peace, Al Queda would treat Americans with peace.

He went on to say that our support in Isreal and involvement in the Middle East would only encourage more terror attacks on the US and "another Manhattan".

The pundits are wanting to spin this as the dreaded "October Surprise". The magic bullet in the Republican arsenal that could spell doom for the Democratic run for several Federal government positions, including President.

Brothers and Sisters! DO NOT BE DISMAYED! In fact, this magic bullet has all kinds of fatal effects for the Bushies. After all, weren't we suppoesd to catch bin Laden 3 years ago? What's he doing still free to make videos? That just doesn't make any sense. This is a scare tactic. How appropriate now that Halloween is upon us.

Take Home Messege: If we had an administration serious about fighting a War on Terrorism...

...Al Queda would be decimated

...the tax breaks for the upper 1% would have never happened, we'd all probably be paying more taxes to insure our victory.

...domestic rationing of resources would have been enacted so our troops could have the lion's share of the nation's resources to hunt and eliminate the terrorists.

...an Appllo Project would have been enacted here at home to insure our energy independence. Thus, insuring the jobs that were lost over the past 4 years.

...real progress would have been made on the Isreali-Palestenian peace talks.

Remember this, and Vote on Tuesday!

Hey...you wanna buy an election for real cheap

Just found this on eBay via my friends over at philzone. No wonder Cheney was touting eBay as the shot in the American economy's arm!

Real Live..or used to be live...Hobbits?

Interesting off the wall story from National Geographic. Apparently an antopological dig has found a small humanoid skeleton of a race of people that lived in the fanciful land of Indonesia with pygmy elephants and kimodo dragons.

I put this up for all my fantasy loving friends out there. Hell, if you're reading blogs, you're probably at least somewhat familiar with JRR Tolkien and his writings.

I always liked Tom Bombadil.

The impossible has just happened...

The Boston Red Sox are World Series Champions! I just saw it right there on my TV. Get ready, this is the 7th sign of the 7th seal described in the book of prophecy: Revelation. I mean, if a 9 headed red dragon can't be compared to a baseball team, then I don't know what can!

More news to follow on this, but hell yeah! Go SOX!

Link above is the first one available from Google News.

I heard something pretty angelic just now...

Burns Sisters' Cover of Leonard Cohen's Democracy is available at the link above for download.

Simply Angelic. Play it like an anthem.

Bush is a Wanted MAN...in Chile!

Chile has put out a warrant for George W. Bush for his involvement in the Iraq War. Why can't we do that here, you ask? Well it's simple, the Republican House is the only body that can draft articles of impeachment. Guess who controls the House? Ding Ding Ding...the Republicans.

Seeing this makes me think, "is this why Bush opposes the International Criminal Court. Has to be...and if it is, then Bush is lying again because he said that he didn't agree with it because he didn't want to put our fightin' boys and girls under the scrutiny of anyone but the US Citizens. This piece of information from Chile suggests that it's not the troops he's worried about, it's his own stinkin' skin! How vile is that?

While we're on it, what kind of Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces lead his troops into battle without a sufficient war plan to win the peace?

Part of winning the peace is securing the enemy's weapons, right? So they can't hurt you. Well, turns out that the plan from the War Room (remember the War Room...it had the big board...It's from Dr. Strangelove, remember...but I digress...) didn't think it prudent to secure the bad guys' arms before you set up your nation building process. We found out yesterday that a major cache of explosives just went missing (377 Tons of Explosives...check it out... http://www.thedesertsun.com/news/stories2004/national/20041025235834.shtml). I'm no millitary strategist, but I play Warcraft, Alpha Centuri, and Civilization, and the first thing you do in an invasion is to go in with overwhelming force and take out anything that might harm your troops! You take out their outposts, then their troop producing facilities, then set up shop in their support buildings and secure your resources. Hell, I'm a hippie and I understand that much.

What kind of man allows his countrymen to go to war without their full battle gear? What kind of man pays his countrymen a tenth of that what he pays his corporate friends? What kind of man puts his country at war in the face of blatently false intelligence? What kind of man can continue say that he hasn't made mistakes in the light of the correct intelligence?

Answer: The kind of man that's wanted in Chile for high crimes and misdemeanors, that's who.

Another Hack Exposed...

I didn't see it, because I'm not a loser that is at home on Saturday Night, but apparently some corporate music hack named Ashlee Simpson (sister to Jessica Simpson, I guess, but definitely not related to The Simpsons, those people are cool, but I digress) was exposed on Saturday Night Live for the lip-synching hack that she apparently is.

"We ain't many...There will always be more DUMB PEOPLE than SMART PEOPLE, and we ain't many."

~Ken Kesey, Oakland 10/31/91

Could you imagine any Dead band member complain about not knowing the words because "the band started playing the wrong song"!? INSANE! What's probably even more insane is the fact that people still buy into this gibberish.

Stay vigilant, support live music.

Ok, you Rubes, I give up on trying to convert ya...

This report out from the Program on International Policy Attitudes provides some pretty shocking evidence. Even though all the reports are out, people still think Iraq and Saddam had something to do with 9/11, that Saddam had WMDs, and that Saddam and Osama Bin Laden were in kahoots with one another.

I fear for the days that call for the end of our great republic. I fear, because they are nigh.

Vote by 11/2

Who would be your ideal candidate for President?

Well, turns out that I'm in the Greens. Not too surprising really, but I'm still going to have to endorse Kerry for the good of the nation this time around.

This thing doesn't take too long. Check it out, stay informed, and I'll see ya in victory circle come November.

Dr. Gonzo endorses Kerry

That's right folks. You're favorite Fear & Loathing author was driving down the highway from LA to Las Vegas in a big red cadillac and a head full of sunshine blotter when he looked up, saw the Bush Administration taking a big nuk-ler dump on Yucca Mountain and exclaimed, "JESUS! WHAT ARE THESE CREATURES?!"

I haven't read it yet, but judging from the first paragraph, it's gonna be a doosey.

Armageddon came early for George Bush this year, and he was not ready for it. His long-awaited showdowns with my man John Kerry turned into a series of horrible embarrassments that cracked his nerve and demoralized his closest campaign advisers. They knew he would never recover, no matter how many votes they could steal for him in Florida, where the presidential debates were closely watched and widely celebrated by millions of Kerry supporters who suddenly had reason to feel like winners.

I couldn't concur more, Doctah.

Oh...My....GOD!

Well, that's it folks. Armageddon is right around the corner. The Red Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino and are going to the World Series! Well, best of luck Red Sox. May the 21st Century be yours as the 20th was the Yankees'.

You realize, of course, if Houston wins tonight, then it would be a Texas-Massachusetts
Series. Not too exciting if not for a parallel political matchup between a Massachusetts liberal and a Texas Dumbass.

Go SOX!

So who's God is the right God?

So who's God is the right God?

Is it Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell's God that says 9/11 was caused by gays, lesbians, and drug users?

Is it George W. Bush's God who gave Bush the advice to go into Iraq against the better wishes of Bush's "earthly father" that has some experience with being President of the United States? Not to say that God couldn't take the job, but you know, there's a couple of little tricks you learn in the oval office. Right, Mr. Clinton (I joke only because I love)?

Or is it Pat Robertson's God alone who says that if we go into Iraq, there will be a big mess and that George W. Bush will be elected in a landslide?

Since when did Christianity become polytheistic? I guess it's been since Bush and Company tried to entrench Religion into our traditionally secular government. You know, that whole Church and State separation thing. Leave God out of politics, please. Why do you think they have all those political talk shows on Sunday Morning when good Christians go to church? Right, because somewhere back in the annals of time some forward minded person saw to it that religious and political discourse didn't get too overly intertwined.

Vote in November, or if your state allows early voting...DO IT NOW!

Kids Kick it for Kerry!

The Nick News kids put in their two cents to say that if they were old enough, they'd be voting Kerry in and uprooting Bush!

400,000 kids and teens voted voiced their opinions...results:

Kerry 57%
Bush 43%

Just keep in mind that the vote on Nickelodeon's Web site has correctly chosen the president of the United States in the past four elections.

Vote in November, or if you're here in TX, you can vote NOW!

A response to an e-mail from a resolute friend...

I was sent some right wing trash today from an old friend. The sad thing is, he's in Iraq right now. He was an ardent Bush supporter when we last met, and it seems that his experience in Iraq has only re-inforced his beliefs.

Name is removed to protect my friend's identity...

_______________________________________

*****,

You know I love ya like a brother. As such, I have to tell you that I find it sad that you buy into Bush's policy so wholeheartedly. I hate the war, not the warrior. You're part of our armed forces, and I have undying respect for your service.

Saying that, I would like to address some of these talking points.

Something to think about ... Let's put things into perspective before we decide which group should run our country:

>>There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January. In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war torn country of Iraq.<<

The recent repeal of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and the underfunding of the Cops program (which put 100,000 more cops on our streets) instituted under Clinton is only insuring that the inner city killings will continue with another four years of Bush.

>>FDR led us into World War II in Europe. Germany never attacked us. Japan did.<<

Ah yes, it was Japan's attack that started our involvement in WWII, but the alliance between Germany, Italy, and Japan was well established before we entered WWII. Germany did declare war on the US. It wasn't like we attacked a country that didn't have anything to do with the axis powers, like...say...Mexico. Germany was attacking our allies, remember? We didn't ignore Japan either. Remember Nagasaki and Hiroshima?

Not that I fault a person for their ancestry, but wasn't it Prescott Bush (George W. Bush's Grandfather) that provided the supplies that built the Nazi Blitzkrieg machine?

>>From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.<<

I'm not going to argue with your numbers, they are recorded in history. I will say that the measure of the justification for a war is not measured in the number of lives lost in it. It is measured in the justified reasons for why we entered into that war.

World War II was a war of survival, not a war of choice. Huge difference. How many reasons has this administration given for going to war with Iraq. First, we KNEW they had WMDs...no WMDs. Then we KNEW they had plans for WMDs...no plans. Then we knew Saddam had the desire for WMDs. Look, I have the desire to have a trillion dollars. Doesn't mean that it's gonna happen, especially at the rate I'm getting paid.

Then there's the plan to bring "American Style Democracy" to Iraq. Have you heard what's happening at Bush rallies here in the US, Issac? People have to sign loyalty oaths to get in. This loyalty oath states that by signing it, the Bush campaign can use your name as a supporter for President Bush. Now, say that I'm an undecided voter and I want to hear what the President and Sen. Kerry have to say before I make my decision. Do you think it's fair that I have to sign a loyalty oath? Is this the freedom we want to bring to these people? I think not. Meanwhile, all across the country, voters that registered this year as Democrats have have found out that their registration forms are missing. Is this American Freedom?

Sen. Kerry's rallies don't have loyalty oaths. Bush supporters are welcome to come to his rallies. They heckle him while he talks, and instead of ignoring them, (check this out) he addresses their concerns! I don't know about you, but I want a president that listens to We The People.

>>Truman finished that war with a bang and started one in Korea. North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.<<

Now, we are taking troops from the DMZ in Korea to go to Iraq. Bush does this with the knowledge that Kim Jong Crazy has 6 to 8 Nuclear Weapons! Hey, wasn't that what we were going into Iraq for? Right, that's what I remember.

>>John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.<<

JFK was also in the Oval Office during the Cuban Missle Crisis. This was the pivotal moment at which we understood that a armed nuclear conflict would lead to a vacant radioactive cinder once known as Earth.

JFK also started the Apollo Project. The plan that sent our astronauts to the moon. This kind of plan would have come in real handy on 9/12/01 except this time, our goal would be energy independence so we wouldn't have to "liberate" our energy supply.

>>Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. Vietnam never attacked us. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.<<

Ah yes, conservatives seem to be living 35 years in the past. Yes, this goes back to the whole Gulf of Tonkin debacle. Nixon ran on the pledge that he would pull our troops out. Interesting that they continued to stay there during the course of his administration. Then again, that's Tricky Dick for ya.

>>Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us.<<

There have been no combat casualties in Bosnia. The regretful lesson learned from WWII was that we had the opportunity to save many jews from the holocaust, but would not get involved thanks to an isolationist agenda. (See above why we did attack Germany AS WELL AS JAPAN!)

>>He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.<<

A dubious claim, but let's go ahead and consider that it is true for the moment. There were Al Queda training camps in Afghanistan. What did we do? That's right, we blew them up...well most of 'em. There are Al Queda training camps in Sudan. There is genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. Where are we again? Iraq (i.e. Not Sudan where there are Al Queda training camps)? I thought this was a war on terrorism. A war against Al Queda and other state and non-state sponsored terrorists.

As bad as Saddam Hussain was (yes he gassed and shot his own people, but used weapons provided to him by the US during the Iran-Iraq war during the Reagan era, but I digress), he was a secular leader. What difference does this make, you ask? Well, you see, Osama Bin Laden (still uncaptured, most likely dead, but who's countin', right?) is a fundementalist leader. Secular and fundementalist mix like oil and water. While they may have met, the 9/11 report showed that there was no collaborative relationship between Saddam Hussain and Al Queda. No connection between Iraq and Sept. 11.

>>Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.<<

This would make you think that he would be a top priority of the President Bush's, but on 3/13/02 he said "I don't think about him that much." Before that, the Presidential Daily Brief from August 6, 2001 which was titled "Bin Laden determined to strike in the US" which described how Bin Laden's Al Queda group was getting ready to fly planes into major landmarks in the US. In her testamony to the 9/11 comission, Condi Rice called this PDB, "a historic document". Excuse me, but just because a verb has an -ed ending doesn't necessarily make it past tense. Now if it had read, "Bin Laden used to be determined to strike in the US, but not anymore" then I'd be more inclined to agree with Ms. Rice.

If Osama has attacked us several times, it seems like we should be concentrating our forces on him.

>>In the two years since terrorists attacked US, President Bush has liberated two countries.<<

Another dubious claim. The prime opponent of Harmed Karzi (the former Unocal executive), had the support of the mujahadeen. Women are allowed to vote, but only with the permission of their husbands and their husbands' families. Guess that 19 year-old girl was one of the lucky ones. President Bush has claimed that over 10 million people in Afghanistan had registered to vote in their recent election, but there were only 9.8 million eligible voters. The afghans used a ink to mark the thumbs of people that had already voted to insure that people didn't vote twice. However, the afghans quickly realized how easily this ink wore off and many voted again.
Meanwhile, almost three quarters of the world's illegal opium production comes from Afghanistan. This is a huge leap from pre-Sept. 11th when the Bush-Led US Government gave the Taliban regime $40 million dollars to repress this production.

In Iraq, Interim Prime Minister Allawi (sp?) has a crooked bombing history of his own. This history includes bombing a movie theatre. 50 children died in that attack.

The man that would have been Prime Minister if not for crossing his masters in the White House, Chalabi (sp?) had been convicted in Jordan of money laundering. If he crossed over into Jordan, he'd be in jail.

>>crushed the Taliban<<

The Taliban were one of the parties represented in the Afghan election.
>>crippled al-Qaida<<

Yes, but there's a long way to go on that.

>>put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot<<

Ok, I'll give you Lybia, but inspectors have been in Iran and N. Korea for much longer than the Bush Administration.

>>and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.<<

The self-same monster who used US manufactured weapons. After the first Gulf War, Bush 41 told the Sunni that if they would rise up against Saddam, then our millitary would support them. They took up arms, and Bush 41 told our men to stand down as hundreds of Sunni were gunned down by Iraqi helicopters. We're not innocent on this one by a long shot.

>>The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but the fact is that it took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation. <<

Bush was the one that said that the Mission was Accomplished, not the Democrats. Secretary of State Colin Powell warned President Bush that if we invaded Iraq we would have to win the peace. Powell wrote a war doctorine toward the end of the Vietnam conflict that stated that the way to invade a country is to go in with OVERWHELMING force. General Eric Shinseki said that we would need 500,000 troops to invade Iraq. The last numbers I've seen have a grand total of somewhere around 150,000 troops. 500,000 > 150,000, right?

Even though major combat opperations have been declared completed, more soldiers have died in Iraq after this dubious claim than before? Is this an example of what President Bush calls a "catestrophic success"?

>>We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find her Rose Law Firm billing records.<<

Hans Blix went to Iraq under the UN mandate, and wasn't able to find anything before he was pulled out. Strike 1

But, hey, you can't trust those UN Blue-Helmets, right? So the US sent their own man, David Kay, to Iraq to look for the weapons. Kay came back in Janurary, 2004 to report that there were no weapons. Strike 2

Last Thursday, Charles Duelfer of the CIA released a report that stated that not only did Saddam not have any WMDs but their ability to make any had been severely crippled since 1991! Strike 3!

>>It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick, drowning Mary Jo.<<

Probably so, and they probably took less time to complete their mission than it took George H.W. Bush to pull strings to get George W. Bush into the Texas Air National Guard.

>>It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!<<

And it took less time to take over Iraq than it took for hundreds of black voters in Florida to be disenfranchised in 2000. They're gearing up to do the same thing in this election as well.

>>Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB! The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts.<<

The safe zone (the area that's safe for fish) on the Great Lakes has shrunk for the first time since the institution of the EPA in 1972.

The "No Child Left Behind" education act has been underfunded by millions of dollars.

Five Million people have lost their health insurance under President Bush's watch.

This is the first President to lose jobs since Herbert Hoover. Hoover's rallying call was "Prosperity is right around the corner." Sound familiar?

The national debt ceiling (the maximum amount of debt we allow our government under the law) was exceeded the 3rd time during this administration. To try to pay this down, the government is borrowing from the government employee pension fund. Legislation will have to be written to revise this number for further no-bid contracts for Halliburton, Bectel, and the slew of other war profiteers.

Funding for VA Hospitals has been cut under the Bush Administration.

This is the first time in the written history of mankind that there have been tax cuts in a time of war. I'm not just talking about American history; I'm talking about since Ancient Egyptian history.

>>If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.<<

Thank you Issac, but for the health of our country, I will never be able to vote for George W. Bush and have a clear conscience.

I pray for your safe return,

Your Damn Leftist Hippie That Gives A Good Goddamn About You Guys And Gals.

Mississippi Platoon says, "Sir, NO SIR!"

Since I AM the Hippie from Mississippi, this story found it's little niche in my heart. The platoon being held has troops from Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Mississippi and South Carolina, and when they were asked to perform a suicide mission with outdated or damaged equipment and NO armed support, they responded, "Are you crazy? We're not going!"

This platoon is part of the 343rd Quartermaster Company. They're supply people, not infantry. They're there to make sure people get the food, water and equipment necessary to keep the infantry going. I'm not a millitary strategist, but even I, a damn hair-farmer hippie, know that you secure your supply line such that it doesn't get intercepted by the enemy. An unguarded supply convoy would be just the thing the insurgents could use to bolster their supplies and morale. The supply trucks go at a top speed of 40 mph. 40 mph!? These vehicles could easily be overtaken by a well-placed ambush.

So, Mr. and Mrs. top 1%, do you not care whether or not these folks made it to their destination, or do you want to hold on to that tax cut so dearly? There are those of you that would say, "Yeah, and your man, that flip-flopper Kerry, voted for the $87 Billion before he voted against it. He's a flip-flopper and doesn't care about the troops." You are disgusting! You in your pump-sucking Hummers, Expeditions, and Yukons with ribbons that say "I support the troops". Did you have this sudden support for the troops since we started our campaigns in both Afghanistan and Iraq or did you support them during the relative peace of the Clinton administration?

This platoon, since they have been imprisoned, has not had access to the judge advocate general. What's next? Are they going to Gitmo? Would that make you happy? Apparently the President wasn't happy that WMDs weren't found in Iraq (a la Kerry-Bush Debate #2). Will it make him happy to put inadequate supply lines on the ground without armed tactical support?

I support the troops, and thus, I say, "Bring them home!"

The Debate between...

this man... Posted by Hello

and this man Posted by Hello

Wow...again, Mr. Kerry delivered. I was going to take a sip of beer everytime Bush lied, but after the 3rd beer I looked at the clock on my cell phone and realized that I couldn't keep up with the pace.

You're a mean dry drunk, Mr. President. Cya in Crawford real soon!

The Debate summary will be here for you soon enough...stay tuned.

*******Time Passes*******

Ok, back and ready to weigh in on what I thought was nothing more than a stump speech refinement session. I still think Kerry won because he has the better stump speech, but I can't tell whether I'm dissappointed with the candidates' performance in the answering of questions, or in Bob Shieffer. Shieffer was throwing softballs to both candidates. These aren't the same kind of critical questions we heard from the folks at the town hall meeting.

I hate to admit it, but I believe that the questions asked reflect what kind of issues the people at CBS News think we're concerned about. It kinda makes me feel like I, along with other enviromentally-conscious people, haven't been doing our job to press our leaders on issues of the environment and energy independence.

Yeah, I know the stereotype, environmenalists are supposed to be these backwoods hippies riding around in VW microbuses with bumper stickers from bumper to dashboard, but the fate of the environment effects EVERYONE in the nation and on the planet as long as we're tied to the umbilical cord of Mother Earth. Think about the issues asked about...

Jobs...
An Eco-friendly policy would insure the manufacturing jobs of the 21st century. It would insure lower energy prices so people aren't paying so much of their hard-earned wages to provide the energy we have grown so dependant upon.

Economy...

A Green Economy puts more green in everyone's pocket by lowering energy costs, health care costs, and food costs.

Energy Independence...

Can you imagine if the next "Saudi Royal Family" was Farmer Jones and his cornfields in Iowa. With the use of biodiesel and ethanol as fuel sources, the grain we eat could be the gas of the future! Energy Independence would also insure that we get off the oil teet and be able to make our own energy at home as opposed to having it delivered from some of the most troubled areas of the world.

International Trade...

With a Sustainable Economy, the United States stands to become the the banker rather than the borrower of energy resources. This position would put us in a better position to dictate our terms of trade with other nations.

Health Care...

Cleaner Air and Water insures better health. Less work and school days would be missed due to the pollution in our air and water.

Education and Ethical Dilemas such as Abortion

Women of child bareing age in this nation consume water that is laden with murcury and other neurotoxins that can effect the cognitive ability of a developing fetus. With Eco-friendly policy, we insure the most ethical promise we can make to a new citizen of this world: The opportunity to develop into your greatest potential. A sex-ed classroom that teaches sustainable principles would provide our children with all their available options from condoms and birth control to adoption and abortion.

Now, one has to ask, why didn't Mr. Schieffer ask about the Environment and Energy Independence? Oh yeah, it's not that big of a topic next to gay marriage...sorry, I forgot.

Are you Registered to Vote?

This is beyond rediculous, apparently these good-hearted citizens want to register voters, but only republican voters. What's up with that? It's called supression of the vote, and it's the way Republicans win nowadays. Come on people, let's think about it.

- People who want to see Bush and Cheney have to sign a loyalty oath to get into the event.

- If you are at the event, you cannot have anything that might imply you are for Kerry-Edwards on your person or Anti-Bush, or you'll be removed.

Do the above statements sound very American to you? They sound kinda facist to me.

Stay tuned for the debate tomorrow night, now that I can post pictures, I'm gonna have something special for you folks.

What the...?

One of These Days... Posted by Hello

The above picture was a flyer that I found in my mailbox this afternoon. Interesting, don't you think? Everyone seems to talk about the End of Days, the End of Time on Earth, the End Times, or whatever it's being called nowadays. Quite frankly, I think it's rediculous to talk about this. I mean, I'm a Christian, and I know this is going to happen, but I also know that Jesus said that he'd come back like "a thief in the night". As in, when no one's expecting it. By holding a conference about it, and advertizing it, you're only delaying the inevitable.

This is the reason Neo-Cons use to gear their agenda to the Religious Right. After all, what does it matter if the world's plundered and we all drive SUV's that get less than 10 mpg if we're all heading to heaven in a silver aeroplane in a few years, right? Who's to say that we need to protect the environment if we're all going to be called up in the twinkling of an eye, right? WRONG! We were given the task of being the caretakers of the land by our creator, and as such we should take care of it until such a day as we leave the planet behind. Again, I don't expect this to happen anytime soon because people aren't shutting up about it. I don' mean to tell these folks that they can't speak their mind, but as I have already stated, the more you talk about this event, the less likely it's gonna happen soon.

Which makes you wonder...how soon is soon. In God's time, soon might be several billion years from now when the sun expands into a Red Giant star. Given the kind of events talked about in the book of Revelation, this sounds like its described. God's time is certainly not mankind's time. Keep that in mind, and you'll find that you can reconcile the differences between what science (a la the Theory of Evolution) and religion (a la the Creation Story) on our origins. The sooner we have a united understanding on our origin, the sooner we will be able to move onto more important issues such as where we're going and how we'll get there.

Is Nothing Sacred?

Today I opened the New York Times to see President G. Dub giving a speech at Red Rocks. RED ROCKS! The most sacred and holy of all concert sites, and this monkey flung his lies like shit from his cage.

I guess after such a great venue such as Madison Square garden took on the taint of the RNC, it was only a matter of time until other sacred venues would soon fall to the scourge. This is most dissapointing. At any rate, Bush was there to campaign with Republican Senate hopeful Pete Coors...as in Coors Brewing Company. This seems somewhat funny to me seeing as how Bush was a raging alki before "finding Christ".

So first the MSG, then Red Rocks...what's next? If Bush talks in the Warfield or the Oakland Coliseum, then I'll have an answer to the question asked in this title...and that answer is: Yes, nothing is sacred, anymore.

Sinclair must go down...

Sinclair broadcast group, owner of 62 television stations across the US, is planning on showing an Anti-Kerry documentary documenting his efforts to protest another unjust war, Vietnam. The title links to a website patition asking the FCC and Sinclair to not allow this to be aired.

This is not Sinclair's first err in favor of the current administration. A couple of months back, they pre-empted an episode of Nightline on which Ted Koppel read all the names of the soldiers that had sacrificed their lives in the current conflict in Iraq.

2nd Debate: Kerry Up 2-0

An angry bull will attack anything. Make no doubt that George W. Bush was angry tonight. It showed that this is an administration that rules on a strict diet of anger, fear, and ignorance. Meanwhile, Kerry continued to push his messege of hope, prosperity, and health care for all.

Some of the first questions out of the chute were aimed toward the accusation that Kerry was a "flip-flopper". Kerry was able to easily address this and then move on to tell how he would improve on funding for stem cell research, health care, the environment, our relation with our traditional allies all while balancing the budget and winning the war on terrorism.

If you want evidence of how bumbling a fool Bush is, then you need to look no further than the faces of the audience. For instance, when the audience member asked Bush about the environment, the audience member's face was stone while Bush jibbered on about the "Clear Skies Act" used to clear the sky of birds and why we pulled out of the Kyoto Protocol.

A second telling face was from a woman who asked if the President could admit to making mistakes and name 3 mistakes. As Bush stammered through the excuses he had for tripling funding for Homeland Security without showing many tangible results, the woman's mouth was slightly agape in horror.

In light of the Duelfer Report, I have an analogy that Mr. Bush can understand. Three strikes and you're out. Hans Blix wasn't able to find weapons in the time that Mr. Bush gave him - Strike 1. David Kay was not able to find any weapons - Strike 2. Now, Charles Duelfer says that not only did Iraq not have weapons, but they have not been able to make them since 1991 - STRIIIIKKKKE THREEEEE! You're OUT!

Vote in November. Know your stuff before you go out. Check out factcheck.org (that ORG Mr. Cheney) for the flat facts of what was said at this debate.

Get Well Soon Bob Weir

Bobby, get well soon, brother...

Official Press Release...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 6, 2004

RatDog must regretfully announce the postponement of the Bob Weir and RatDog tour scheduled to begin tomorrow, October 7th, in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Since January, Bob Weir has worked continuously on music dates for RatDog and The Dead, promotional work for his career retrospective album, and a number of nonprofit appearances. It was all simply too much, and he’s reached a point of complete physical exhaustion. He anticipates returning to performing in early spring 2005. No one regrets more than he the postponement of these shows, but he and his management concluded that his long-term health was a greater priority. That and his desire to give his fans only the best possible performance outweighed the difficulties of rescheduling the tour.

Fellow Young People, Pay Close Attention

Click on the title to go to Congressman Tim Ryan's (D-OH) website and click on the first link on the floor speeches page to see a passionate discourse on why so many young people are worried about the draft.

For those in the know, Charlie Rangel's (D-NY) Draft Resolution Bill failed by an overwhelming margin.

Nay: 402
Yea: 2

1984, 1991, 2004 and other important dates...

Well, it seems that the Orwellian prophecy of 1984 is finally coming to pass, just 20 years too late. Yesterday, another US weapons inspector made the same claim that two other weapons inspectors have made: THERE ARE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DISTRUCTION IN IRAQ! Not only did Charles Duelfur's report say that there were no weapons of mass distruction, but also stated that Iraq has not had the ability to create said WMDs since 1991! Do you remember 1991? I was 13 in 1991. That's half a lifetime ago for me. No WMDs since 1991, none, zero, zielch, as in less than one but more than negative one. 0.

This is the conclusive evidence that this was a war of choice from a president that touts that women should not have the choice of what they can or cannot do with their own body. This is a war propogated by a leader who thinks it is a good idea to give tax breaks during a time of war, a course of action that has NEVER been taken by any national leader in the written history of mankind.

This administration has no honor!

A moment of fairness...

Check out the above link. I am very happy to see that SOMEONE is checking the facts behind claims on that someone is http://www.factcheck.org In all fairness, they corrected some of Edwards claims as well as Cheney's.

This site is owned George Soros, the one billionare that seems to want to do something that no other billionaires want to do: Talk about the truth!

God Bless George Soros...well I guess he already did.

Edwards Wins, Cheney Smears

Last night, the one and only vice-presidential debate between Dick "Darth Vader" Cheney and John "Luke Skywalker" Edwards showed that evil has a face, and it is Dick Cheney.

From the beginning, Cheney forced Edwards to split his attention between countering Cheney's lies and getting the messege out about what a Kerry-Edwards administration could do for the US. Meanwhile, Cheney seemed to get a free pass from moderator Gwen Ifill. Several times during the debate, Ifill gave Cheney the 30 second discussion time, but didn't give Edwards the same 30 second rebuttle as was done during the presidential debate last Thursday. In one instance when Ifill slipped and gave Edwards the 30 second rebuttle, she took it back after Edwards spoke for 15 seconds.

Since Edwards attention was split, he was not able to deliver the "knockout punch" needed to put this Vampire back in his casket. Thus, although the instant polls show the people thought that Edwards is the winner...

All Poll results are as of Wednesday 10/6/04 9:20 am

MSNBC

Edwards: 61%
Cheney: 39%

CNN (this is before they took the poll down like a bunch of cowards!)

Edwards: 85%
Cheney: 12%

CBS (If you care to trust them anymore...)

Among Undecided Voters

Edwards: 41%
Cheney: 28%
Tie: 31%

In the InstaPoll

Edwards: 81%
Cheney: 17%

FOX News (I know, can you truly trust these guys...but here's their poll as of 2am this morning)

Edwards 54%
Cheney 46%

Please note that all polls listed above are not scientific and are pretty much nothing more than bat squeeze, but the pundits are calling this debate for Cheney. Given how they thought the first debate between Bush and Kerry was a tie, it just shows you how asleep these folks are, or how deep they are in this administration's pockets.

Some interesting notes: Donald Rumsfeld said yesterday that there was no definitve evidence for WMDs in Iraq. I know, seems like before the war, Rumsfeld knew exactly where the weapons were. He later retracted this statement. Meaning that he told the truth, and is apologizing for telling the truth. Paul Bremer, the guy that was interim governor of Iraq stated yesterday that he thought we needed many more troops on the ground in Iraq to win the peace. Hmmm...isn't that what General Shinseki said? Where's he now? Oh yeah, just like Paul Bremer, retired by the Bush administration. Given these two statements from prominent officials in the Bush Administration, Cheney's messege starts to crumble. With this base of fear crumbling, The Cheney-Bush (make no doubt, this is how it works, not the other way around) record on domestic issues wilts inthe light like a vampire before sunlight.

Conclusion: Edwards, although not as clear a winner as Kerry, won this debate with a good combination of defense (debunking lies) and offense (telling US citizens what a Kerry administration would do for them).

Fake Debates: Round 1 goes to Kerry!

GEEZUS H. CHRIST ON A POGO STICK!

If you can defend President Bush after seeing this debate, you really need to have your head examined. Kerry took the opportunity to lay out plans, while Bush took the time to repeat the same tired rhetoric.

One of the most telling moments of the debate was when Bush said that we went to Iraq because the enemy attacked us. Kerry capitalized by reminding G. Dub that Osama Bin Laden, a Saudi citizen and leader of the Islamic fundementalist terror network, Al Queda, was the enemy.

Kerry laid out a plan for dealing with the Sudan, N. Korea, Iraq, the greater War on Terrorism, and Limiting Nuclear Proliferation. Bush sat there and said, "mexed misseges". Am I being disingenous? Yeah, I guess I am, but beyond mixed messeges, the other terms Mr. Bush used were as follows: resolute, it's hard work, Vladmer, Terra.

Terra? Excuse me, Mr. President, but since when are we attacking Georgia. I know that Scarlet O'Hara was a real bitch because she didn't get that red-headed guy, but lay off. They had a hard time of it. After all, rebuilding a plantation is hard work.

Let's take a moment to talk about the International Criminal Court. Why is Bush opposed to this? Is it because he's looking out for us, or because he's looking out for himself? He and his administration are felons of the highest order. These people make Al Capone look like a pussycat. An International Criminal Court would insure that our allies could have a stake in the War on Terrorism by allowing them to see the evidence against any terrorist and make a decision on what would be done with them.

Kerry's strategy last night was not to go on the warpath on Bush. After all, Kerry only needed to lie in wait for Bush to trip up on one of his own lies. The Kerry strategy was to let those who are mostly disinterested in politics to get to know him and his plans. He's had limited airtime on most news networks in comparison to Bush. If you wanted to know information about Kerry, you had to dig for it. The American Public, by in large, is not willing to do any work for quality political discourse. Thus, it's ironic that Bush says the War in Iraq is, "tough work". What does Bush know about, "tough work" with the exception of cutting down brush on the fake ranch in Crawford?

Ok, so in the title, I called this a fake debate. There's a 32 page rule book for this year's debates. These are rules to keep Bush AND Kerry safe. Don't get me wrong, I'm voting for Kerry come November, but I would have loved to have seen 3rd party candidates and heard their perspectives. Ross Perot would not have been able to participate in this debate because the participants aren't allowed to use props. Perot's charts would be out the window.

I would have loved to have seen a Lincoln-Douglas stump speech-style debate given that we were only able to hear the Republicans and Democrats. That would have been an impossibility. I mean, sweet Jesus, did you see how bad Bush choked? Imagine if he had to think in real time. He would have been attacking Kerry within the first minute...with his fist!

In Summation: If you watched the debate last night and you're still not convinced that George Bush needs to leave the White House to insure our victory in the war in Iraq, victory in the war on terrorism, limitation of nuclear proliferation, and gaining a better relationship with our tradional allies, then you are a lost cause.

Please put your head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.
